Firstly, check if your camera has FTP/FTPS/SFTP functionality by referring to your camera's user manual, we've got a list of cameras that we think work with Send Files here, if your camera isn't on this list, there's a chance you won't be able to use our service.
If it is, use your camera's manual to find the process for connecting to an SFTP or FTP server (or search YouTube for a tutorial, and use the server, username, password and port details provided when you first signed up.
You will be met with an error if you use the wrong port. You must use port 2022 for SFTP, or 21 for FTP and FTPS (with explicit TTL), and you must have passive (PASV) mode activated.
In order to maximise compatibility with all cameras, your account storage is set up in two layers, the top root folder (the first space you see when you log in, and the Storage folder.
The top folder is a temporary space that uses super quick servers to allow for the seamless upload of image files directly from cameras or computers. Once uploaded, they are moved to the storage folder, where they can be downloaded, shared, or organised into folders.
To maximise speed and compatibility for all users, the top folder space can only accomodate individual files, rather than folders. If you want to organise your files into folders, this can be done as normal within the Storage folder.
You can upload files and directly into the Storage folder, bypassing the top root folder entirely - However, when sending from a camera, we recommend using the top root folder (also known as "/" in file directories).
The Sync functionality is a tool that allows you to automate distribution of files to multiple endpoints, currently we have integrations with Dropbox, Box, Google Drive, SFTP/FTP Servers and email distributions.
To get set up, go to the Sync log-in here. Then you will be able to create destinations. At the moment our Google Drive connection is in testing, so to activate it, email us to be added to the test group.
Once you have set up at least one destination, any new files uploaded to your Send Files storage will be automatically copied to your destination (and then moved into a folder called Sent in your account).
If you want to use the email sending feature, currently this only works via SFTP and FTP uploads directly to the root folder (/). For all other sync destinations, uploads to anywhere in your account will work (apart from the Sent folder).
Reach out at support@send-files.com and we'd be happy to help you get set up!
